30-40 Anniversary

If you have a set of photos which you would like to include in this page, please e-mail them to Graham. If they are accompanied by some captions, all the better, but the pictures are the main thing.
George Broderick, the race founder, included a couple of audio clips with the 1973 archive pictures: Introduction to 'The Bens of Jura' and the song 'The Bens of Jura' itself. This performance was by Kenneth McKellar, so to spare further embarressment, it has been omitted. George explains that this is the song which inspired the original title of the Race. He has kindly submitted a traditional Gaelic version of the song, recorded from Murdo Smith, Gearraidh na h-Aibhne, Lewis, in 1958, to more or less the same tune, by the school of Scottish Studies. Here would have been the song, but it is too big to upload: Ma 's ann 'gam mhealladh, a ghaoil, a bha thu and a transcription and translation.
